PHILOSOPHY

Our Philosophy

Bronte Activity Centre, and the surrounding community, will strive to focus on high quality learning and “play” programs that take account of community and industry needs, are child centred and driven, relevant, meaningful, motivating, age appropriate and include a high level of engagement. There will be an emphasis on creativity, ‘hands on work’ and specialist programs which cater for a range of interests. The centre’s philosophy encompasses the following aims:

  • Children will be encouraged to be creative, independent, active, motivated and focused. They will be provided with opportunities to develop appropriate play skills and life skills, and their achievement will be valued and acknowledged.

  • Staff and children will work in an environment that is welcoming and friendly. Values such as tolerance, self-respect, care for the environment, pride, courtesy and responsibility will be promoted.

  • Our community will have an active involvement in the school and their contribution and support will be acknowledged and valued. We seek to develop partnerships between parents and the school.

Our aim is for children to:

  • have a strong sense of identity

  • be connected with and contribute to their world

  • have a strong sense of wellbeing

  • be effective communicators

 The Program will:

  • be varied and stimulating and focus on play and leisure activities.

  • involve the opinions of staff, children and parents to form the basis of the   program.

  • provide an opportunity for the children to use and develop social skills, explore and solve problems and engage in critical thinking.

  • have a multicultural influence encouraging staff and children to be aware of their own world and develop positive attitudes towards cultural differences.

The staff will:

  • provide a safe, secure and happy environment.

  • be sensitive to the uniqueness of each child.

  • take on continual learning and training.

  • develop a strong interpersonal bond between other staff, children and  parents.

  • encourage, support and aid the children in their activities.

The parents will:

  • be encouraged to take an active role in the centre in sharing ideas and feedback.

  • be encouraged to keep an open communication.
